This webinar explored fisheries and aquaculture – two marine-based industries at very different stages of development, each facing distinct challenges and opportunities. It also explored approaches to more complete and efficient use of biological resources across both sectors.

Through a series of short expert presentations followed by a structured debate, we examined how marine resources are currently perceived and how research and innovation can support their more sustainable and efficient utilisation. By directly comparing traditional fisheries with the rapidly evolving aquaculture sector, the session offered valuable insights into future pathways for both industries.
