BIO2REG Network launched to accelerate regional bioeconomy transformations
BIO2REG has launched the BIO2REG Network – a dynamic network where regions can connect, learn and build partnerships to help drive sustainable change and economic green growth in European regions. Membership is free and open to regional authorities, development agencies, entrepreneurs, clusters, researchers and other actors driving change in their regions.
Why it matters
Transitioning towards a circular bioeconomy opens new opportunities in regions for green growth, innovation, and resilience in key sectors such as agriculture, forestry, food, fisheries, and the use of natural resources. Regions play a key role in making this transition happen, and the BIO2REG Network is here to support regional actors every step of the way.
What we offer
The BIO2REG Network offers regions the tools, expertise, and collaborative support necessary to unlock the full potential of their bioeconomy, driving sustainable economic growth and environmental benefits. By connecting stakeholders from various sectors and regions, the network creates a vibrant hub for sharing real-world experiences, best practices, and co-creating innovative solutions tailored to regional needs.
The network will offer members a range of webinars tailored to the needs of bioeconomy model regions. The upcoming sessions include “Best practices in regional bioeconomy transitions” on 8 October 2025, and “Multi-Criteria tool to assess bioeconomy potential in regions”, scheduled for November. Regional stakeholders will gain insights into successful transition pathways and learn how to apply practical tools to identify and unlock their region’s bioeconomy potential.
Members of the BIO2REG Network enjoy exclusive access to a wealth of resources, including the stakeholder guide “Best practices for regional transitions to bioeconomy model regions”, showcasing 64 best practices across Europe on key transition topics, e.g. strategy and action plans, value chains, social sustainability, funding and many more. Members will also receive priority invitations to training sessions and events, matchmaking opportunities, and an exchange instrument designed to foster interregional cooperation and mentoring.
“The BIO2REG Network provides hands-on support for regions on their way to becoming a bioeconomy model region,” said Gabriela Munares (KVC), leading the network activities. “It empowers stakeholders to build trust, share actionable insights, and turn bioeconomy challenges into opportunities for positive change.”
