Evdokia Achilleos is a Head of Sector in the European Research Executive Agency (REA), Unit ‘’B3- Biodiversity, Circular Economy and Environment’’, which implements part of Horizon Europe and H2020 programs. Evdokia has been working for 14 years in the European Commission, first in Water Policy and then for Research Programs in the fields of water, circular/bio economy, and zero-pollution. Previously, she worked at the Greek Public Administration for water /environmental policy, at engineering companies focusing on environmental impact and sustainability for different industries and as a researcher. Her education is in Chemical Engineering, and she has BSc from Penn State University and an MA and PhD from Princeton University.

Sam Hout Ledo works at the European Commission’s DG for Research and Innovation, where he focuses on the regionalisation of the bioeconomy. He was previously posted at the Commission’s DG for regional policy and, before joining the Commission, worked on the intertwinement of citizen participation and climate change at other international organisations.

Dr. Jan-Philipp Kramer is Director & Partner at Prognos AG and Head of the Brussels office, with over 15 years’ experience in European policy. He is the firm’s principal adviser on Smart Specialisation, interregional innovation and cluster development, designing and evaluating strategies to foster innovation ecosystems across EU regions. His clients include the European Commission (DG REGIO, DG RTD, JRC), European associations and national or regional governments.

Ulrich Schurr is Director of the Institute of Plant Sciences at Forschungszentrum Jülich. He coordinates the German Plant Phenotyping Network, chairs the ESFRI project EMPHASIS, and serves as President of the International Plant Phenotyping Network. He also leads the Bioeconomy Science Center, focusing on sustainable bioeconomy solutions based on the expertise of the Universities of Bonn, Aachen, Düsseldorf, and Forschungszentrum Jülich. He also initiated BioeconomyREVIER, a model region for sustainable bioeconomy development in the Rhenish mining region, a German coal phase-out area.
